How to apply for a DigiD code (living abroad, receiving Dutch AOW)

You can use your DigiD code to report a change in your address or bank account number, or a change in your partner's income. If you wish, you can send documentary evidence (for example, an income statement) digitally as an attachment. You can also view your details or read and print out your monthly or annual pension statements. To use these online services, you need to request a DigiD code.

How to apply for a DigiD code
  1. First, you will be asked to answer a number of questions on the SVB website.
  2. The information you give will be checked immediately against the SVB records.
  3. If the details match, you will be directed to the DigiD website, where you can fill in a username and a password. You can also apply for SMS authentication, though this is not necessary for the SVB. (If you do not get connected to the DigiD website, please get in touch with us at the SVB.)
  4. You will then be sent a letter (in Dutch) with an activation code (activeringscode): you can use this code to activate your DigiD via the DigiD-website (which is in Dutch). From then on, you can use the SVB web services.
